Nigerian security agents enforcing the Coronavirus lockdown in Nigeria have killed more citizens in the last two weeks than the deadly virus, the National Human Rights Commission (NHRC) has said.
While the disease has so far killed 11 persons in Nigeria, according to data from the Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC), security operatives have caused the death of 18 people, the NHRC said in a report. The Nigerian senate has introduced a bill to create an agency for all repentant Boko Haram Haram members.
According to a report by Premium Times, the Senate on Thursday began moves to establish an agency that would see to the rehabilitation, deradicalisation and integration of repentant insurgents in the country.

In Nigeria today, the issue of community policing appears to be in the forefront of social and political discourse, as it has overshadowed other pressing national issues. This is the latest in the series championed by the political elites, and the masses have latched unto it like lice to a dog. Here in Akwa Ibom, I have even heard a suggestion from an academic that we should return to the pre-colonial era practice or system of community security! This is a sad commentary.
