Two members of staff of Akwa Ibom State University, Eyo Okon Eminue (aged 39) and Iquo Ebong Okon (aged 46) have today been arraigned before the Chief Magistrate’s Court sitting in Uyo, Akwa Ibom State on charges of criminal defamation of the character of Prof. Eno Ibanga, Acting Vice Chancellor of the Akwa Ibom State.
The duo have, in what appears to be a carefully calculated plan, made countless defamatory publications on Facebook against the person of Prof. Eno Ibanga.

One thing that has been vividly demonstrated with the outbreak of the novel Coronavirus, is that Nigeria is a failed State. This is a fact that has been well known for some time. However, COVID-19 has made this very evident.
That the government, both at the federal and state levels, have been reluctant to take concrete measures to prevent the further spread of the virus, including locking down social and economic activities, is a testament to the inability of governments in the Federation to institute effective social and economic policies, including monetary and fiscal policies, as is the case in functional societies. I watched sadly yesterday as Hon. Victor Antai who couldn’t win the position of Oron Federal constituency openly scolded the people of Uyo under the umbrella of APC coalition of Uyo Senatorial District Youths, all in the name of bringing them to work with or for Chief Godswill Akpabio, a man he idolised as the leader of the APC in the state; the very man that was defeated by the PDP at the poll, tribunal and appeal court, and even in a rerun in his very home local government area.
