Breaking: Student killed as police and shiitte clash

A protest this afternoon by the Islamic Movement in Nigeria (IMN), otherwise known as Shiites has left a secondary school student dead. This happened when the police forcefully dispersed members of the movement at the Wuse Market in Abuja.

The girl was returning from Government Secondary School, Wuse, when she ran into the policemen dispersing the crowd.

Unconfirmed report said a witness at the scene of the incident gave the name of the policeman who mistakenly shot the victim as Geoffrey A. Rafah.

About two journalists, who were covering the incident were also arrested by the police. Afolabi Sotunde of Reuters was one of the journalists.
